TECNO's POVA line gets a significant spec bump with the POVA 8 5G, which launched in India on June 11–13, 2026, with availability starting June 18 on Flipkart and in retail stores.
Performance and Display
The POVA 8 5G pairs a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 with dedicated G1 and SE1 co-processors for handling 20 5G bands. The display is a 6.76-inch FHD+ IPS panel (2,344 × 1,080) running at 144Hz with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. TECNO has TÜV Rheinland low-blue-light certification on the display. The device carries military-grade durability certification and supports a Memory Fusion feature that can virtualize up to 16GB of total RAM.
Battery
The standout spec is the 8,000mAh cell, which TECNO says is good for two days of light-to-moderate use, 60+ hours of calls, and nearly 30 hours of YouTube video. The battery is rated to retain more than 80% capacity after 2,000 charge cycles. Charging is 45W wired — enough to reach 50% in about 34 minutes — with 10W reverse wired charging for topping up other devices.
Camera
The rear camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor (f/1.8, PDAF) and an auxiliary lens. The front camera is 13MP. AI features include LightMaster 2.0 for removing unwanted reflections and shadows, Noise Cancellation for calls, and AI YouTube Summary, which analyzes links and generates structured notes.
Alive Matrix Display
The distinctive feature is the rear Alive Matrix LED panel — a dot-matrix light array styled after Nothing Phone's Glyph interface — which displays 49 customizable lighting effects for notifications and status indicators.
Software and Extras
The POVA 8 5G ships with Android 16 and HiOS 16, with two major OS upgrades and three years of security patches promised. Buyers get three years of 256GB TECNO cloud storage and a three-month Google AI Plus trial in select markets. Health scanning via the front camera (heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, breathing) is available in select regions.
Price and Colors
The 6GB/128GB model is ₹29,999 (~₱19,100) and the 8GB/128GB variant is ₹31,999 (~₱20,400). Color options globally are Arc White, Graphite Black, Helios Orange, and Echo Green; India also gets 16-Bit White, Terminal Green, and Plasma Orange. No Philippine pricing or launch date has been announced.
