Airbnb AI Agent to Plan and Book Trips Starting in the First Half of 2027

Airbnb says its own AI travel agent reaches guests in the first half of 2027, while its support assistant already settles about 40% of issues without staff.

Airbnb's AI assistant now resolves about 40% of all customer support issues without a human, and the company says a bigger step comes next: its own AI agent that plans and books whole trips, rolling out to guests in the first half of 2027. Airbnb set that date in its third-quarter 2026 results letter, published November 5 (US time).

For travellers in the Philippines, the honest answer is that nothing is confirmed yet. The letter names no countries for the agent's first rollout, and Airbnb has not announced Philippine availability or Filipino-language support for it.

What the Airbnb AI agent will do

Airbnb describes the agent as a trip planner that can also act, not a chat window. According to the company, it will:

  • build its screen around your question, pulling from hundreds of travel-specific elements such as maps, photos, side-by-side comparisons, calendars and itineraries;
  • help a group explore options and decide together, since Airbnb says the average booking has 3 guests;
  • take action inside Airbnb, including changing a reservation, fixing a payment problem, handling refunds and rebooking, and connecting guests to 24-hour safety support;
  • over time, cover a full trip across homes, hotels, services and experiences.

Airbnb argues that general-purpose AI agents handle simple tasks such as restaurant bookings well, but that people want to browse and choose their own place to stay. It backs this with its own figures: more than 75% of guests use the map, over 90% look at several listing photos, and 70% read reviews before booking.

Why Airbnb is building its own agent

The company lists three advantages in the letter: nearly 20 years of data on how hosts and guests search and book; the fact that it already handles reservations, payments and support, so its agent can help during a trip; and a custom interface built for travel. The same plan appears in Airbnb's 8-K filing with the US SEC, which attaches the full shareholder letter.

The 2027 target is not new, but it is now more specific. At Skift Global Forum on September 23, 2026, CEO Brian Chesky said Airbnb would launch its agent "next year", Skift reported. The results letter narrows that to the first half of 2027. Skift also noted that Booking.com and Expedia already take bookings inside ChatGPT, while Airbnb has stayed out. Meta has taken a different route with Muse, a personal agent that books and buys for you.

What Airbnb's AI already does today

The support assistant is the part most guests can use now:

MeasureQ3 2026 figure
LanguagesMore than 50
Support issues solved without a humanAbout 40% (up from a third in Q2 2026)
Support cost per bookingDown more than 17% year on year
Voice supportExpanding in the US

That jump from one-third to about 40% is roughly 7 percentage points in one quarter, by our math from Airbnb's own figures. Airbnb has not published the list of supported languages, so we could not confirm whether Filipino is one of them.

Other AI tools are more limited by country. The new AI search, which lets guests describe a trip in their own words or by voice, is live on the web in the US only, with iOS "coming soon" for some US users, per the filing. AI filters, AI-written listing summaries and AI comparison of wishlisted homes are also listed. Hosts get 3D floor plans, suggested nightly rates and AI earnings summaries.

The numbers behind the plan

Airbnb reported Q3 2026 revenue of $4.9 billion (around ₱309 billion), up 19% year on year, and guided Q4 revenue of $3.22 billion to $3.28 billion (around ₱203 billion to ₱207 billion). It also approved up to $12 billion (around ₱757 billion) in new share buybacks. 24/7 Wall St. reported that the results beat analyst estimates. Peso figures use one rate of ₱63.07 per US dollar.

In Asia Pacific, nights and seats booked grew more than 20% year on year, according to the filing, led by Japan and India. The Philippines is not mentioned. Airbnb has given no exact launch date within the first half of 2027.
