The HONOR Play 20A goes on sale in the Philippines on November 11 at ₱8,099, which is ₱900 below its ₱8,999 SRP. It runs on the same MediaTek Helio G81 chip as the ₱6,999 HONOR Play 10, so the real question for buyers is what the extra money gets you.
The short answer, from HONOR's official spec sheet: a bigger screen, a bigger battery, faster charging, a small second screen on the back and basic dust and drip protection (IP52). The processor stays the same.
HONOR Play 20A price and where to buy it in the Philippines
The local price and dates come from the Philippine launch details published by BusinessMirror on November 6:
- SRP: ₱8,999
- 11.11 price: ₱8,099, on Shopee only, on November 11, during Shopee's 11.11 Mega Pamasko Sale
- Extra Shopee perks: a 20% Mega Discount Voucher and free shipping. The launch reports do not say the maximum amount the voucher can take off.
- Installment: 0% for six months through SPayLater, advertised as "as low as ₱45 a day"
- Nationwide release: November 28, 2026
None of the Philippine launch reports says which memory version sells for ₱8,999. HONOR's global spec page lists three: 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. Check the RAM and storage on the Shopee listing before you pay, because 32GB of storage fills up quickly.
What the ₱45-a-day plan really costs
By our math, ₱45 a day for six months (about 180 days) comes to ₱8,100. That matches the ₱8,099 sale price, which is what a 0% plan should look like: no added cost for paying in parts. Spread over six monthly bills, it is about ₱1,350 a month.
HONOR Play 20A vs HONOR Play 10: what ₱2,000 more buys
The Play 20A figures below are from HONOR's global spec page. The Play 10 figures are from HONOR Philippines' Play10 page, with its price and charging speed from Technobaboy's launch report.
| HONOR Play 20A | HONOR Play 10 | |
|---|---|---|
| PH price | ₱8,999 SRP (₱8,099 on Nov 11) | ₱6,999 SRP |
| Chip | MediaTek Helio G81 | MediaTek Helio G81 |
| Main screen | 6.9-inch HD+ LCD, 90Hz | 6.74-inch, 90Hz |
| Rear screen | 2-inch | None |
| Battery (typical) | 6,000mAh | 5,000mAh |
| Charging | 15W | 10W |
| Water and dust rating | IP52 | Not stated |
At SRP the gap is ₱2,000. On November 11 it shrinks to ₱1,100 (₱8,099 minus ₱6,999).
Because both phones use the Helio G81, the Play 20A should not feel faster than the Play 10 in apps or games. The extra money goes into the screen, battery and body, not speed.
Battery and charging time, by our math
HONOR rates the Play 20A's battery at 5,850mAh (6,000mAh typical). HONOR does not publish a watt-hour figure, so we assume 3.87 volts, a common rating for phone batteries. That gives about 22.6Wh. At 15W, that is about 1.5 hours at the very least to charge from empty.
The Play 10's 4,900mAh rated battery works out to about 19Wh on the same assumption. At 10W, that is about 1.9 hours.
This is a calculation from the makers' figures, not a test. Real charging takes longer, because phones slow down as the battery fills. The Play 20A holds about 20% more charge (6,000 vs 5,000mAh typical) and should still refill sooner.
What the rear screen does
The 2-inch rear screen (240 x 296 pixels, per HONOR's spec sheet) shows call alerts and media playback, according to HONOR's product page. It also works as a viewfinder, so you can take selfies with the 13MP main camera instead of the 5MP front camera. HONOR also tried a rear-screen design on the HONOR X5ds, which has no Philippine launch yet.
Other specs worth checking before you buy
- Software: Android 16 Go edition, a lighter version of Android made for phones with little memory
- Network: 4G only, no 5G. HONOR lists LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40 and 41.
- No NFC listed: the spec sheet does not include NFC (the chip used for tap-to-pay), so do not expect to pay by tapping your phone
- Storage: microSD card slot for up to 1TB
- Extras: 3.5mm headphone jack, side fingerprint sensor, USB-C (USB 2.0 speed)
- Size: 8.4mm thick, 206.5 grams
- In the box: 15W charger, USB-C cable, protective case and a pre-installed screen film
Who the Play 20A suits
On paper, it fits buyers who want a large screen and a big battery for under ₱9,000, and who like the idea of rear-camera selfies. If you mainly call, chat and browse, the Play 10 has the same chip for ₱2,000 less. Whichever you pick, confirm the memory version on the listing first.
