Filipino shoppers can now install TikTok Shop as its own app, and on iPhone it is an 809.8 MB download, nearly 300 MB smaller than the 1.1 GB main TikTok app. You no longer have to open the video feed just to buy something or check an order.
The standalone TikTok Shop app is live in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand on iOS and Android, TechCrunch reported on November 5. Social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted it. The rollout was quiet, and TikTok did not answer TechCrunch's request for comment.
What the TikTok Shop app does
The app keeps the shopping part of TikTok and leaves out the rest. According to its Google Play listing in the Philippines, it offers:
- product picks based on your interests;
- LIVE streams and short videos that show products in use;
- app-only deals, free shipping offers and first-order perks;
- in-app payment, order tracking and 24/7 customer support.
The app-only deals are the main reason to switch. They are meant to move buying out of the main TikTok app and into the new one. Engadget describes it as a streamlined version of the shopping section TikTok already runs. The listings do not spell out the size of the first-order discount for Philippine users, so check the offer inside the app before you buy.
TikTok Shop app vs the main TikTok app on iPhone
Both apps are free, and both list the same publisher on the Philippine App Store. Here is how the two listings compare:
| TikTok Shop | TikTok (main app) | |
|---|---|---|
| Download size | 809.8 MB | 1.1 GB |
| Minimum iOS version | iOS 14 | iOS 15 |
| Age rating | 13+ | 13+ |
| Smallest coin pack | 12 coins for ₱15 | 12 coins for ₱15 |
By our math from the two App Store listings, the Shop app is roughly 290 MB smaller (1,100 MB minus 809.8 MB), or about a quarter less storage. The 1.1 GB figure is rounded on the listing, so treat the gap as approximate. Your downloaded videos, cache and messages add to both apps over time.
The Shop app also sells coin packs, from 12 coins for ₱15 up to 17,500 coins for ₱17,490. Larger packs cost less per coin: ₱1.25 a coin in the smallest pack versus about ₱0.99 a coin in the 7,000-coin pack (₱6,950 divided by 7,000).
How to make sure you install the real app
New shopping apps attract copycats, so check the publisher before you tap Install:
- On Google Play, the app is called TikTok Shop and the developer is TikTok Pte. Ltd. It describes itself as the official TikTok Shop app, and its listed support address is tiktokshopservice@tiktok.com.
- On the App Store, the app is called TikTok Shop and the provider is TIKTOK PTE. LTD. The listing says it is only for iPhone.
- Do not confuse it with TikTok Shop Seller Center, a separate app from the same company for merchants who manage orders and products.
The Play listing says the app may collect location, personal information and other data types, encrypts data in transit, and lets you ask for your data to be deleted. On the App Store, TikTok declares that identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Why the Philippines got it early
Southeast Asia is where TikTok Shop is strongest. Research firm Cube estimates that TikTok Shop held 31% of combined Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop sales across six Southeast Asian markets, including the Philippines, in 2025, up from 23% a year earlier. Shopee still led with 59%, while Lazada fell to 9%. Cube notes these are outside-in estimates for physical goods only.
A separate app puts TikTok Shop on the same footing as Shopee and Lazada, which shoppers here already open as standalone apps. On Google Play in the Philippines, the new app already shows more than 50,000 downloads and ranks fourth among top free shopping apps.
TikTok has also been courting local sellers. Last month it joined Converge and the DTI in a SellerPlus fiber and zero-commission package for online sellers. How shoppers pay matters too: cash on delivery still leads Philippine online shopping, as our look at COD and QR Ph payments found.
What is still unclear
TikTok has not said whether the app will reach other countries, including the United States, according to TechCrunch and Engadget. It has also not published Philippine-specific terms for the app-only deals. The Play Store listing was last updated on October 29, so the app was live for about a week before reports of the launch appeared.
