Filipino online sellers and livestreamers have a new on-ramp into e-commerce. SellerPlus, a bundle from Converge ICT, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and TikTok Shop, pairs a 200Mbps fiber internet plan with marketplace perks, insurance, and mentorship aimed at micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The program was launched on September 30 in Makati City, where the three partners pitched it at home-based entrepreneurs, content creators, and live sellers in categories such as food, fashion, and apparel.
The headline perk: sellers who join TikTok Shop through the program pay zero commission for their first 90 days on the platform.
What the SellerPlus bundle includes
The package combines connectivity with selling tools in one subscription:
- 200Mbps Converge fiber internet — the backbone for livestream selling, where a dropped stream can mean lost sales.
- Zero TikTok Shop commission for 90 days for newly onboarded sellers.
- Seller Diligence Missions that reward active sellers with vouchers and other incentives.
- Traffic and voucher support through TikTok Shop's monthly Sariling Atin campaign, which promotes Filipino-made products.
- Personal accident insurance from AXA, covering sellers as they run their day-to-day operations.
- Dedicated customer service for program participants.
Converge senior vice president Dindo Marzan said the initiative is meant to reduce barriers to digital commerce, with high-speed, low-latency connectivity supporting real-time demonstrations and training without network disruptions.
Mentorship and the DTI AI and Scale-Up Center
SellerPlus is also an execution channel for the DTI Bagong Pilipinas AI and Scale-Up Center at the DTI headquarters in Makati. The facility gives sellers access to AI content generators, customer-service bots, and inventory software, plus free co-working spaces, meeting pods, and training workshops.
On top of that, participants get the BizPro Rockstar Mentorship Program through the BizFriend PH Community. The mentorship covers practical ground that trips up many first-time sellers: partnership law, digital marketing, tax compliance, business communication, and growth strategy.
For the DTI, the program slots into its wider push to digitalize MSMEs, which make up the vast majority of registered businesses in the Philippines. For Converge and TikTok Shop, it is a customer-acquisition play dressed in public-private partnership clothes — and that is not necessarily a bad deal for sellers, as long as they understand what they are signing up for.
What sellers should check before signing up
None of the materials released so far state the monthly price of the SellerPlus bundle. As of publication, the partners have not published what the 200Mbps plan costs under the program or whether it differs from Converge's regular residential and SME pricing, so sellers should ask for the full rates before committing.
A few other practical points to weigh:
- The zero-commission window is 90 days. After that, standard TikTok Shop commission rates apply, so factor the normal fees into your pricing from day one.
- The perks target new sellers. The commission holiday applies to newly onboarded TikTok Shop sellers, not existing shops.
- The mentorship is the sleeper benefit. Tax compliance and business registration are where many Filipino online sellers run into trouble; free guidance on those is worth more than a voucher.
For livestream sellers outside Metro Manila, the bigger question is Converge's fiber footprint in their area — the bundle only matters where the fiber reaches. If SellerPlus delivers on both the connectivity and the hand-holding, it is a sensible template: the government brings the training, the telco brings the pipe, and the platform brings the customers.
