What the Sketch Reveals
Nothing kept the teaser intentionally sparse, but the sketch communicates a few things clearly:
- Single rear camera: The sketched device shows one lens, a notable step down from the dual-camera setup on the Phone 3a and 3a Pro. A single camera strongly signals budget positioning and simplified hardware.
- Transparent rear panel: Nothing's signature aesthetic is intact, with exposed internal detailing and the glyph-compatible rear design expected to carry forward.
- India-first launch signals: A Flipkart microsite went live alongside the teaser, pointing to an India-focused launch similar to Nothing's mid-range phone rollouts.
Why the Phone (4b) Exists — The CMF Cancellation
Context makes the Phone (4b) easier to understand. Nothing recently confirmed it would not release a new CMF Phone this year, canceling the intended CMF Phone 2 Pro successor. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis cited a memory price hike driven by the AI boom — the device would have cost Rs. 30,000–35,000 (~$317–$370), pricing it well above the CMF target segment.
