Xiaomi HyperOS 4 Global Beta recruitment is now open for the company's 2026 flagships. Xiaomi HyperOS announced on X on September 10 that the beta test is open, with the first wave covering the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. A second wave, made up of the Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15, becomes eligible on September 17, Android Authority reported. Five of those seven phones are officially sold in the Philippines, so this is the first chance for local Xiaomi owners to try the company's next software before its stable release.

The Xiaomi 17 series launched here in March at those prices, with the Ultra sold through Xiaomi's official Shopee store, according to Gadget Pilipinas' launch coverage and the Xiaomi 17 listing on Pinoy Techno Guide. The 17T series arrived on May 29, and the Xiaomi 15 has been on sale since March 2025, per the same price tracker's 17T Pro, 17T, and Xiaomi 15 pages. Redmi and POCO models are not part of these first two waves, and Xiaomi has not published a timeline for them.
How to apply for the HyperOS 4 Global Beta
Applications go through the Xiaomi Community app: open Me, then Beta testing, then Recruiting test, and complete the questionnaire. The program supports both Global and European (EEA) software builds, so a Philippine-market unit on the Global ROM qualifies. Getting accepted does not mean an immediate update. Xiaomi releases beta builds when they are ready, and Android Authority notes that applicants should expect a wait.
What HyperOS 4 changes
HyperOS 4 is built on Android 17, but for the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra the Android part is already done. Xiaomi pushed stable Android 17 to both phones in July while keeping them on last year's HyperOS 3 interface, so this beta is about Xiaomi's own design and feature layer. Based on the ongoing Chinese beta, the headline changes are:
- Soft Light Glass, a translucent, layered visual style. Lock screen numbers, widgets, notification cards, and control toggles behave like frosted or polished glass layers instead of flat panels.
- Stacked home screen widgets, more flexible folder placement, and grouped notifications.
- A redesigned Fusion Device Center for managing phones, tablets, watches, computers, and smart home devices from one hub.
- AI features shown in China, including recorder summaries, smarter voice notes, structured voice input, and translation. Xiaomi has not confirmed which of these will reach global builds.
- Camera and media tweaks, including an upgraded HDR processing algorithm, faster camera response, and better video playback, according to Notebookcheck's summary of the announcement.
Xiaomi also claims better memory management, faster app launches, smoother long-term performance, and longer battery life. Those numbers come from the company's own laboratory tests, so real-world gains will vary by phone.
Read this before you install a beta
There is no over-the-air path back to HyperOS 3. Returning to the stable release requires flashing the phone with a clean ROM, which can erase your data. Beta builds also come with the usual warnings: bugs, app compatibility problems, temporary overheating, and higher battery drain. Back up everything first, and if you have a spare eligible phone, test on that instead of your daily driver.
Should Filipino Xiaomi owners sign up?
If you bought a Xiaomi 17 or 17 Ultra here, you already have Android 17, so the beta mainly gets you the new look and the device hub a few weeks or months early. Owners of the 17T, 17T Pro, or Xiaomi 15 have to wait until September 17 to apply, and their beta will carry the Android 17 base as well as the HyperOS 4 changes. For most people, the sensible move is to wait for the stable build. Xiaomi has not announced a stable HyperOS 4 release date for global markets, and the Philippines usually receives the same Global ROM schedule. Anyone shopping for a new Xiaomi phone this month should note that the Redmi Note 17 series lands in the Philippines on September 15, and Redmi is not on the beta list yet.
