Smart has a new AI product, and it does not live in an app store. AI.Smart is a browser-based AI assistant that bundles ChatGPT, Google Gemini, AWS Nova, and Thinking Machines models behind a single sign-in, priced through one-time top-ups that start at ₱49 — a prepaid-style approach that will feel familiar to anyone who has ever bought a load promo.
As of publication, only one outlet has reported the launch, and the details here come from the service's own site, which describes AI.Smart as an all-in-one assistant for chatting, creating documents and images, and working from your own files. The service lives at ai.smart — a web address under the telco's branded .smart domain — and the site notes the platform is "enabled by Avtica."
What AI.Smart does
Instead of committing to one AI model, AI.Smart lets users switch between four: OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, Amazon's AWS Nova, and Thinking Machines. On top of plain chat, the platform supports:
- Generating documents and images
- Uploading your own files to work from
- Pulling in web pages and YouTube transcripts as source material
- Saving projects to return to later
- Working in both Filipino and English
The pitch targets students turning notes into study guides, travelers planning itineraries, and small businesses producing social posts and product descriptions — use cases that normally push people toward a paid AI subscription.
Pricing: top-ups, not subscriptions
The pricing is the most distinctive part. There is no auto-renewing monthly plan; everything is a one-time top-up that expires, like a prepaid load bundle:
| Plan | Price | Validity | Credits | Team seats |
|---|
| Solo | ₱49 | 7 days | 100,000 | 1 |
| Flex | ₱99 | 14 days | 225,000 | 1 |
| Pro | ₱149 | 30 days | 350,000 | 5 |
| Max | ₱499 | 30 days | 1,200,000 | 10 |
Credits stack if you top up before your current bundle expires, but unused credits are forfeited once the validity period lapses — again, exactly how prepaid data behaves. The Pro and Max tiers include multiple team seats, aimed at small businesses that want shared access without per-user subscription fees.
To push early sign-ups, the first 100,000 users get an extended free trial, with the offer running from September 18.
A busy AI week for Smart
AI.Smart is Smart's second AI-flavored launch in the same week: the telco also rolled out the LiveSmart app, which bundles cashback perks with free multi-model AI access for Smart and TNT subscribers. Parent company PLDT, meanwhile, has been putting agentic AI to work internally, cutting risk reviews from ten days to under one. The pattern is clear: the PLDT group is betting that Filipinos want AI tools packaged and priced the way telco services are.
Should you try it?
For casual and first-time AI users, the ₱49 entry point is the story. International AI subscriptions are priced in dollars, billed monthly, and require a credit card — three separate barriers in a market where most mobile users are prepaid. A one-week, ₱49 top-up with access to four major model families removes all three at once. The open questions are practical: which model versions the credits actually buy, how far 100,000 credits stretch in real use, and how the service performs under load. Those answers will only come from users testing it — the service is live now at ai.smart for anyone who wants to check the free trial before spending a peso.
