The short version

vivo has taken the X Fold6 global — the first time the company has brought its book-style X Fold series outside China. The foldable pairs a 6,900mAh battery with MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 Super chip and a 200MP ZEISS-branded main camera, and in its slimmest version measures just 4.4mm thick when unfolded. What it does not yet have is a Philippine price: vivo says availability will be announced market by market.

The X Fold6 launched in China back in June; this week's announcement, covered in GSMArena's report on the global rollout, brings the international version with OriginOS 7 Fold — vivo's software layer on Android 17 — in place of the China-only build.

A foldable that out-specs many slab phones

The usual foldable trade-off is battery and camera: thin hinged phones tend to carry smaller cells and weaker optics than same-price slabs. The X Fold6 attacks both.

  • Battery: 6,900mAh — larger than most non-folding flagships — using vivo's fifth-generation silicon anode "BlueVolt" cell chemistry, with 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.
  • Cameras: a 200MP ZEISS main camera built on Samsung's HPB sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), a 50MP ZEISS APO periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide. There are 20MP selfie cameras on both the cover screen and the inner display.
  • Displays: an 8.02-inch inner AMOLED (2312 x 2504) and a 6.51-inch cover screen, both LTPO panels running from 1 to 120Hz with peak brightness quoted at 5,000 nits.
  • Thinness: 4.4mm unfolded and 228 grams in Prism Black; the Horizon Blue version is 4.8mm and 235 grams.
  • Durability: IP58 and IP59 ratings, meaning it tolerates dust and water — including high-temperature jets — better than most foldables, though it is not fully dust-tight.

The Dimensity 9500 Super chip comes with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, depending on market.

On the software side, OriginOS 7 Fold leans into the big inner screen with a Multi-Task Workbench for running several apps side by side, plus an AI Meeting Assistant and an AI File Manager. This is also the first time international buyers get OriginOS at all on a vivo foldable — earlier global vivo phones shipped Funtouch OS, so the global X Fold6 doubles as the overseas debut of the software experience Chinese users have had for years.

What it costs — where pricing exists

European pricing has been set at €2,199 (around ₱156,200) for the 512GB model, bundled with a case, cable and a free vivo Watch GT 2. That positions the X Fold6 squarely against Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold lineup in Europe, and well above China pricing — imports always carry a premium. For comparison in the foldable race among Chinese brands, Xiaomi's rival 18 Fold debuted in China from ¥10,999 (around ₱102,500) just weeks ago.

No Philippine price yet — here is what we know

vivo has not announced Philippine pricing or availability for the X Fold6, a point Gadget Pilipinas' coverage makes explicitly — local buyers will have to wait for the company's regional rollout plans. vivo maintains a full official retail presence in the Philippines, so a local launch is plausible, but nothing is confirmed, and no date or price should be assumed from the European figure.

Two things are worth watching while waiting. First, which configuration vivo brings: internationally the phone is expected in 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB variants, in Prism Black and Horizon Blue. Second, pricing pressure from memory costs — vivo is one of the phone makers that has publicly resisted the industry's 30-40% memory price increases, and whether that resistance holds will shape what a Philippine X Fold6 would cost. If vivo prices a local unit anywhere near the converted European figure, it would land in the same bracket as the top iPhone and Galaxy Ultra configurations — rarefied territory for a brand better known locally for midrange value.
