Apple has confirmed a product launch for Tuesday, October 13, teased with the phrase "Welcome home." Marketing chief Greg Joswiak posted the teaser on X on October 8, writing simply "Welcome home. October 13," as reported by 9to5Mac. The tagline points squarely at the smart home, and the launch is expected to bring Apple's long-rumored smart home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini, and a new Apple TV.
A quiet launch, not a keynote
This will not look like a September iPhone event. Apple has invited selected media and creators to an "Apple Experience" in Tribeca, New York, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time (9 p.m. in the Philippines), per MacRumors. The launch is not listed on Apple's Events page, so no livestream is expected. Instead, MacRumors reports that announcements will likely arrive as Apple Newsroom press releases and short YouTube videos for each product, followed by hands-on impressions from attendees.
What Apple is expected to announce
Apple has confirmed only the date and the tagline. Everything below comes from reporting, chiefly by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, and remains unofficial until Monday:
- A smart home hub. An all-new device described as a cross between an iPad and a HomePod, with a square display — reports differ on whether it is closer to 6 or 7 inches. It is built for shared family use: smart home controls, FaceTime calls, video, news, weather, and calendars, with voice as the main way to interact. A camera and presence sensor would let it recognize who is nearby and show a personalized interface, and both a countertop version and a wall-mount version have been reported. Pricing could land around $350 (around ₱22,000).
- HomePod mini 2. The first update to the small speaker since 2020, with improved sound, new colors such as pink and green, a faster S-series processor, and Apple's N1 networking chip for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- A new Apple TV 4K. A big chip upgrade — accounts differ between an A19 Pro and an A20 Pro — plus more memory, Wi-Fi 7, and a revised Siri Remote.
The common thread is Apple's AI-upgraded Siri, which Gurman says sits at the core of all three devices. A separate Bloomberg report points to a second wave of launches around October 27, including OLED MacBook Pro and iPad mini models, so October is shaping up as a two-act month for Apple.
What it means for Filipino Apple users
Apple has not announced Philippine pricing or availability for any of the rumored devices, and the smart home hub would be an entirely new category for the local market. Until Apple or its local resellers say otherwise, treat the $350 figure as a US price only — the peso conversion above is an approximation, not an SRP. The move also lands in an increasingly crowded smart-display space: Amazon just relaunched its own Alexa tablets with full Android and Google Play, and both companies are betting that an AI assistant with a screen is the next fixture in the living room.
There is nothing to stream on Monday night, so do not wait up for a keynote. The product pages and videos should appear on Apple's site and YouTube channel from 9 p.m. Philippine time, and we will know then how much of the rumor list survives contact with reality.
