Prime Video now costs ₱249 a month in the Philippines — ₱100 more than the ₱149 rate Filipinos have paid since 2022. New subscribers have been charged the higher price since October 21, and existing subscribers will see it on billing dates from November 21, so there is about a month left to decide: lock in the ₱1,669 annual plan, which works out to around ₱139 a month, or let the subscription go.
What changed on October 21
Unbox PH and Technobaboy first reported the new rates on October 21, after the updated prices appeared on Prime Video's subscription page. Two numbers moved:
| Plan | Old price | New price |
|---|
| Monthly | ₱149 | ₱249 |
| Annual | ₱1,390 | ₱1,669 |
The monthly jump is 67%; the annual plan rose by ₱279. Nothing else changes with the price: Manila Shaker reports that Amazon says the increase will not affect the platform's features or streaming quality. A subscription still covers streaming on up to three devices at once, with downloads available through the Prime Video app.
When you start paying more
If you subscribe today, you pay ₱249 right away. Existing subscribers keep the old rate until their next billing date — Manila Shaker and ASTIG.PH both report that the new monthly price applies to renewals from November 21, 2026.
There is one carve-out. DITO's official notice says the adjustment covers only standalone Prime Video subscriptions bought through the DITO App, which also moved from ₱149 to ₱249 on October 21. DITO bundles that include Prime Video — Home WoWFi, postpaid plans and promo packs — are not affected, and standalone subscriptions bought before October 21 keep their price until they expire.
The ₱149 rate was a promo that ran four years
This is less a price hike than the end of a very long sale. According to Unbox PH, Amazon cut the monthly price by ₱100 in 2022 as a limited-time offer and simply never rolled it back; the outlet puts Prime Video's original monthly price in the Philippines at ₱259, which would mean even the new ₱249 lands slightly below where the service started. Amazon has not given a detailed explanation for the timing, per ASTIG.PH.
The move also continues a broader repricing of streaming in the Philippines: Netflix raised all of its local plans in June 2025 after the Digital Services Law added 12% VAT to foreign digital subscriptions, as Unbox PH documented at the time.
How to cut the bill to about ₱139 a month
The annual plan is now the obvious lever. By our math, 12 months at ₱249 comes to ₱2,988, against ₱1,669 for a year paid up front — a saving of ₱1,319, or about 44%, which matches the "up to 44%" figure Technobaboy notes the service is promoting. In daily terms, that is roughly ₱8.30 a day on the monthly plan versus about ₱4.60 on the annual one.
If ₱249 is more than Prime Video is worth to you, the decision point is your first renewal on or after November 21 — that is when the old rate disappears for existing subscribers. How ₱249 compares with Netflix and Disney+
Even after the increase, Prime Video undercuts most rival plans. Netflix's Philippine prices, listed by Unbox PH from Netflix's local site, have stood since the June 2025 VAT adjustment:
| Service and plan | Monthly price |
|---|
| Prime Video (annual, effective) | about ₱139 |
| Netflix Mobile | ₱169 |
| Prime Video (monthly) | ₱249 |
| Netflix Basic | ₱279 |
| Netflix Standard | ₱449 |
| Netflix Premium | ₱619 |
For Disney+, Unbox PH lists the Standard plan at ₱289 a month, while ASTIG.PH puts it at around ₱299 — either way above Prime Video's new monthly rate, and roughly double its effective annual rate.
Amazon has said nothing about further changes, and the ₱1,669 annual price is live now — so a subscriber who expects to keep the service past November has a four-week window to lock in a year at close to the old monthly cost.
