The HUAWEI Pura 90s series arrives in the Philippines on August 20, 2026, and reservations are already open. It is the local landing of the camera flagship HUAWEI launched globally on July 14, led by a Pro Max whose headline feature is a 200MP telephoto camera.
One thing is still missing: HUAWEI has not announced Philippine peso pricing for either model. That comes at the August 20 launch.
How the Philippine pre-order works
The reservation scheme is a deposit-then-balance setup rather than a straight pre-order.

As Speed.ph laid out the reservation terms, the ₱500 deposit is what unlocks the discount, and it only applies if you settle the balance inside the August 7 to 20 window. The Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop vouchers are a separate track, so it is worth comparing the two once the peso price is announced rather than assuming the reservation route is always cheaper.
The 200MP telephoto camera on the Pro Max
The Pura 90s Pro Max is built around a telephoto camera that is unusually large for a zoom lens. According to Imaging Resource's launch report, it pairs a 200-megapixel RYYB sensor measuring 1/1.28 inches with a 96mm equivalent f/2.6 lens, giving 4x optical zoom.
RYYB is HUAWEI's own sensor design, first used on the P30 Pro in 2019. It swaps the green pixels in a normal sensor for yellow ones, which lets more light through and helps in dim conditions. Putting that design on a sensor this big, behind a zoom lens, is the part that is new.
The camera also supports real-time RAW video processing at up to 20x telephoto, backed by CIPA 7.0-rated stabilisation worth about seven stops. In practice that is what makes long-range handheld video usable at all.
The rest of the Pro Max camera system:
- Main: 50MP RYYB sensor with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology, a 24mm equivalent lens, and a variable aperture that steps from f/1.4 to f/4.0 across ten positions. LOFIC is a sensor design that holds more light before a bright area blows out, so highlights keep their detail.
- Ultra-wide: 40MP RYYB, 13mm equivalent, f/2.2.
The standard Pura 90s Pro is a step down: a 50MP main camera without LOFIC, a 50MP 4x telephoto that also handles close-up macro shots from about 5cm, and a 12.5MP ultra-wide.
Shared hardware across both models
Both phones run HUAWEI's HiSilicon Kirin 9030S processor with 5G, and both ship with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage. Global units carry a 6,000mAh battery, with 100W wired SuperCharge and 60W wireless SuperCharge.
The Pro Max uses a 6.9-inch OLED screen and the Pro a 6.6-inch panel, both at 120Hz and both behind HUAWEI's Kunlun Glass. HUAWEI says the latest Kunlun coating cuts reflections by up to 70 percent.
Connectivity covers eSIM, dual-band Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. Software is EMUI 16, which is based on the Android Open Source Project 16 — meaning it is Android underneath, but without Google's own apps and services layer.
Should you reserve before the price is announced?
The honest answer is that you are committing ₱500 without knowing the number it applies to. As a reference point, the global launch priced the Pro Max from €1,149 (around ₱81,000) and the Pro from €900 (around ₱63,500) for the 256GB versions. Philippine pricing is set locally and frequently differs, so treat those as a ceiling-and-floor guide rather than a forecast.
The other thing to weigh is the software. EMUI 16 without Google Play changes how you install and update everyday apps, and that is a bigger day-to-day factor for most buyers than the difference between a 4x and a 5x zoom. If that is not a problem for you, the 200MP telephoto is genuinely hard to match elsewhere right now.
