Samsung will hold a Galaxy Event on August 27 to introduce what it calls "the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family" — and every sign points to the Galaxy S26 FE. The company announced the event on its newsroom on August 19, describing a device "purposefully designed to bring many Galaxy S26 experiences from camera to AI, along with the latest One UI, to those who look for what truly matters most to them."

When and where to watch

The event is online-only. It streams on Samsung.com, the Samsung Members app, and Samsung's YouTube channel starting at 9:00 p.m. Korea time — that is 8:00 p.m. in the Philippines, so Filipino viewers can catch it live on the evening of August 27. Samsung has not named the device outright, but the "S26 family" framing and the camera-plus-AI pitch match how the company has introduced its Fan Edition (FE) phones in past years, as 9to5Google points out.

What the leaks say about the Galaxy S26 FE

Fan Edition phones take the flagship's headline features and trim the price. Based on leaks compiled by Engadget, the Galaxy S26 FE is expected to include:

  • A 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate
  • Samsung's own Exynos 2500 chipset (the main processor), rather than a Qualcomm chip
  • A triple rear camera led by a 50MP main sensor, with a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto
  • A 4,900mAh battery, IP68 dust and water resistance, and One UI 9 out of the box

None of this is official until August 27, and leaked spec sheets have been wrong before — some earlier reports even swapped the main and ultra-wide cameras, so treat the details as provisional.

Why the FE matters

Samsung's invitation leans on the flagship line's momentum, saying the Galaxy S26 series "raised the bar with its boldest camera and AI innovations yet, making it easier for users to capture, create and connect every day." The invite also carries a footnote worth noting for budget-minded buyers: Galaxy AI basic features remain free, while future releases "may include enhanced features or new services that are offered on a paid basis."

The FE line is Samsung's bridge between its mid-range Galaxy A series and the full-price flagships. It typically arrives about half a year after the main S-series launch, reusing the flagship design and camera experience with a cheaper chip or display to hit a lower price. For buyers who want Galaxy AI features and the S26 look without the S26 price, this is the phone to wait for. It also gives Samsung a fresh device for the crowded final quarter of the year — the same week, in fact, that Xiaomi's Redmi Note 17 series holds its own global launch on August 27.

Philippine availability is still unannounced

Samsung has not said anything about pricing or a release date for the Galaxy S26 FE in the Philippines — no local SRP has been announced as of publication. The Galaxy S26 series is officially sold here through Samsung Philippines, and previous FE models have also reached the local market, so a Philippine release would be the expected path once the phone goes official. Until Samsung PH confirms it, though, treat local availability as an open question.

Samsung's foldable roadmap is reportedly getting busier too, with as many as five foldables tipped for 2027. For now, all eyes are on August 27 — Samsung will publish the full announcement on its newsroom and YouTube channel the moment the stream starts.
